03/02/12 Integrated Dance Piece 'Imagination'


In this dance we want to incorpriate all 3 dance styles, graham, cunningham and limon, we have done this through the stimuis of imagination and the idea that your imgination can take over if your not careful. Im really enjoying this dance. I feel i am focused throughout and work well.

I get out the box and walk over with purpose am focused to the front then in time with good posture with the other girls however at 0.36 i come out of time although i catch up . We all stay well frozen until Joe brings us to life, although i need to be more like a rag doll when he tries to control us.

20/01/12 Limon Technique



This is our limon technique dance, we are doing this dance to show our limon technique and show the audience how our skills have grown.

I start of with good focus nad look like i know what i am doing. To start we use cannon to give our dance dynamics at 0.16 my leg lift is good and flows well in to a push through after at 0.18 i need more tension in my arms to be more in time and at 0.20 i need to fall more at 0.24 i show the difference between fall and recovery well. At 0.26 my throw needs to be a lot bigger and at 0.28 my walk needs to be stronger. at 0.32 my stretch out needs to stretch more and be more tense. at 0.42 my spins need a focus point so i dont just look drunk. At 0.46 my torso twitch is strong and falls and recovers well  which goes into a nice Barbie kick although my toes need to be pointed  and then at 0.51 i go into my favourite torso twist which look lovely! And thats how i finish.

Strengths:
  • Torso work all seems pretty good!
  • My Barbie kick although need to point toes.
  • Being able to show the difference between fall and recovery
Weaknesses:
  • Tension- my whole body needw more tension

In this video we show our Limon Technquie Dance; i enjoy this dance as it has a lot of heavy energy and we all work well together; i feel i have good focus throughout.

13/01/12: Exercise Four- Fall and Recovery



We do this exercise to improve our fall and recovery in limon technqiue; at about 0.18 i seem to lose energy to improve this i should try not to burn out to quickly.

0.14- need bigger fall
0.18- out of time
0.32- needs to be bigger
0.37- massive improvement; good fall

13/01/12 Exercise three: Floor



We do this exercise to improve our torso flexiblity and our suspenson of limon technqiue. This is my favourite exercise as i like the torso twist and feel it is one of my strengths.

0.00- nice attitude however alingment needs to be better
0.02- transition needs to be better
0.04- MY TORSO TWIST; BOOM!
0.06- nice stretch- arm alingments needs to improve
0.08- arms need to be straight
0.10- nice body roll
0.11- better getting up still needs improvement

0.23- not as powerful torso twist as before but still good

13/01/12 Exercise two: feet



We do this exercise to improve the flexibility in our feet and also strengthen our lower alignment.
I feel i am focused throughout this video and stretchng to a good ablitiy.

In this exercise i hit my targeted of turning my leg out more however now i need to lift my torso up more.

13/91/12: Exercise one- Roll downs



In this exercise we work on our Limon technique this is good as it helps with our torso flexibility, articulation of the spine, alingment and weight balance.  I feel i have got good flow in this exercise and am focused.

0.19: could be better alingment
0.23: nice suspence

Strengths:
I am well grounded and focused and look like i know what im doing.

Limon Technquie: Repertoire (Dance) 6thJan2012



In this video we work on our Repertoire (Dance) I feel my focus has improved a bit but i am still very unbalanced.

0.00 Nice arm extension. 0.04 a controlled spin in a nice push through at 0.07. At 0.11 I need heavier energy and at 0.14 I need to drop more, 0.19 I need to throw harder. 0.21 good leg lift however at 0.24 my leg needs to be higher and at 0.26 I am unbalanced. 0.30 moves need to be clearer and at 0.33 I need to get up!

Limon Technquie: Fall/Recovery 6thJan2012



In this exercise we work on control and balnce which are some of my targets, My falls in this are good however my balance is very weak. To improve this I need to work on my core strength.

0.00 A nice leg into a control fall but needs to be looser. 0.03 Nice leg but my arm alingment needs to improve. At 0.07 my back fall and recover needs to improve and at 0.14 I need more focus by 0.20 I loose balance but at 0.21 I do a well controled lean back which is followed thrpugh by my head.

Limon Technqiue: Floor exercise 6thJan2012



In this exercise we worked on our floor work, as we was exploring Limon deeper we added a spin and a fall at the end which I have yet to master. I found with this exercise when I do it on the left my brain cannot work put how to do it, therefore I need to break it down and I feel my right side is very much improving and but my left looks like it doesn't even know what it's doing!



At 0.00 we all start off looking like a rap band which looks a bit strange but then I go on to do a good attitude (below) I then go on the do an exelent Circle of the torso at 0.04 it is well lifted with a high release. At 0.006 my alingment is really good and at 0.007 you could draw a line on my stretch(below) However at 0.08 I need more tension and vy 0.12 I needto improve my getting up. 0.13 And the spin is nice but needs to be more controlled and at 0.14 I need to fall so much more. 0.19 I begin my left side which you can see is not half as good as my right. At 0.23 it's clear I need more VA VA VOOM! 0.24 And my stretch was too bad the second one at 0.26 was a bit better however my belly roll at 0.28 was quite good but my spin and fall at 0.32 was too slow and unbalanced.

Limon Technqiue: Foot exercise 6thJan2012



In this exercise we are working on our balance which I am not very good at so this exercise will help my improve that. I feel Ive made some improvements on this exeercise for example my taget of need to rise more has been hit in this video.

0.00 I start of the exercise in a good strong positon going on to 0.03 with a nice point and then at 0.06 i hit my target of a nice rise. At 0.08 I have a good foot stretch going onto 0.09 a good leg lift. In the last video my walk was a bit uneven whereas at 0.12 it is nice. However at 0.18 I move too soon making be un focused by 0.25 this is clear. I found when doing this exercise to the side I seem to be all out of sync as at 0.28 I am leaning to one side and by 0.34 my legs need to be straight.

Limon Technqiue: Roll Downs 6/Jan/2012



In todays lessons we extended our Limon technqiue skills, I feel I have improved a lot since the last video I feel my focus is better and my moves are a lot sharper. Limon seems a lot easier to pick up than Graham and Cunningham. I think that is were its more about how you do it not what your doing its easier although you do need to be technicallly correct.

I start of at 0.00 in a good strong clear position, looking focused and like I know whats going to happen. At 0.01 my heavy energy is good and my curved in pile looks very dramatic. When coming up at 0.02 my arms need to come staight up and my bum needs to be in. Doing a second pile and again its good. At 0.05 I have good alingment and at 0.07 I drop right to the ground which was one of my targets so therefore I have improved. I follow that through with a nice roll up at 0.09 and at 0.11 I keep it dramaitc whichis good. However at 0.18 I could do with heavier energy and at 0.22 I need to roll in more and slow down a bit. Again hit a target at 0.24 with my plank however there is still room for improvement as I need to follow my head through.

SNFW: Run Through


When running through with the music it makes you see just how fast the routine is and put you off a bit; i think i pick the dance up well even if some bits i didnt get i stayed focused.

I really enojyed the workshop although at the begin we was all un sure what to expect it turned out really good fun and i really enjoyed it :)

SNFW: Learning Traffic Lights



In this part of the workshop we learn a section called traffic lights. At first this very much confused me but by the end of it i was sort of getting it. It was fun doing this with the music and really "grooving" If we do this again i need to learn the moves fully and really perform them.

SNFW:Learning Steps #2


In this part of the work shop we learnt more steps to go with our duets; again i feel i was well focused and did my best to pick up the moves. As we still got a bit confused we asked for help and then went through it again.
its important to ask for help so that you can inprove.

SNFW:Working With A Partner



I found this part of the workshop the hardest as it was all about being in tune with your partner which i am still learning to do; however we gave it a good go and seemed to have got it by the end

If we do this again i need to improve my partnering skills

SNFW: Warm Up


I really enjoyed this warm up as it was fun and to music we could sing along to. Its improtant to warm up so our body can work to its best and we dont hurt ourselves. I was in time throughout the warm up and my jumps came nicely off the ground.

SNFW: Learning Steps



In this video we are being taught the begin of the duet, i feel i was well focused and seemed to pick up the move quite quickly. It was fun being taught by different people even though we wasn't used to their style. The dance was quite fast but we slow went through the steps so that made it easier.

Saturday Night Fever Workshop(SNFW): Group Run Through



This is the whole group doing our duets together and running through the whole dance. I really enjoyed working all together and learning something totally different even though it was quite fast and hard to get used to. We all look like we are having fun and in this video i remember all the steps so that is an improvement from my last video.

Saturday Night Fever Workshop:Mine and Shannon's Duet.



This me and Shannon doing our duet; i feel we worked well together and focuse3d on learning the steps. We looked like we were enjoyibg ourselfs even if i did muck up at 0.24 i think with more practise this could look really good.

If we did this again i'd need to learn the step fully and then perform them.

Limon Technique: Repertoire



In this exercise we learn about control of quick movements and balancing them. I look focuses through out however i do do a few parts wrong.
 0.08 i am tilting to once side need to im[rove my core balance.
0.11 my turn is well controlled. At 0.12 my leg lift is good/focused.
0.14 my walk back needs to be stronger
0.16 i need more force in my throws to show heavy energy
0.20 nice lean
0.22 could push more
0.23 need more tension
0.26 good leg lift
0.29 walk back is terrible
0.31 spin is well controlled but look like a doll
0.38 and then i lose it.

Limon Technique: Floor Work

Floor work iks important as it helps us to be aweare of the space around us and also helps us be more grouned.

The exercise starts at 0.08 and my feet are well grounded however my shoulders need to be back. At 0.09 i do a good attitude and my alingment is good. At 0.11 i go the wrong way and the video stops.

Limon Technique: Fall and Recover



In this exercise we worked on Linmon's fall and recovery technique. This helps us with our control and our focus. We also work our leg flexibility. Throughout this exercise we need to use a lot of heavy energy. For a first attempt at this exercise i feel I did quite well.

I start off 0.00 with very good posture, I am pulled up well. At 0.04 my leg evalute is good leading in to a nice fall pulling up to again good posture. By 0.07 my evaluted leg is good followed by a well controlled lean however my next evalute at 0.011 is weak but i recover well. At 0.15 i am out of time and at 0.19 i am un balanced. However nice point at 0.21, got all confussed at 0.33 and lose balance at 0.48. After i seem too carry on well showing i am focused.

Strengths:
  • Elalute are well lifted.

Limon Technique; Foot Exercise



In this lesson we worked on limon foot exercises; they reminded me a lot of cunningham foot exercises so I got a bit confused when rehersing. However Limon's foot exercise's are about heavy energy so therefore the movements are more grouned. I feel that I am focused in this exercise and my feet are well growned.

At 0.15 my lift is good and well balanced and after my foot flex is flexed well. At 0.18 my leg is well elevated and toes are pointed well. I then go on to step back quickly in time with the musicand everyone else. This is good as timing was one of my targets. After this we repeat the exercise with the other food and again I feel I do quite well with good energy and focus.
 We then repat the whole exercise again and I feel I continued to work well.

This exercise will improve my balance, through alterate legs. My timing through the speed of the exercise. And also my lower body strength.

Limon Technique; Exercise one: Tilts and Roll Downs.



In this lesson we had our first try at Limon Technique which is a lot more free than Cunningham or Graham. It's good to try out new styles so that we can all find our own indivual style. So far I really like Limon as I like that it's not as structure as other styles. In this exercise we looked at tilts and roll downs. These help us as the tilts help with our alignment and the roll downs help with our back flexibility and also help to warm up our upper body. Unfortunatly I started of this exercise with my feet too far apart which therefore affected the rest of the exercise. To improve this I need to check where I am before starting.

At 0.03 we can see that my arm alingment is good however like I said my feet are clearly to far apart. Having good alingment is important as when on stage with a large amount of people it will help your spacial awearness. By 0.11 my arms are still strong however my bum is sticking out. Therefore I need more lowerr body tension. 0.15 and I do a really nice tilt into roll, this shows I am focused and understanding of what we are trying to achieve. 0.17 my legs are still a problem as my left leg needs to be more bent to mirror my right. At 0.21 I have to sort my hair out- Don't use this hair style again. At 0.23 my left hand needs to be straight to follow through the alingment. At 0.28 I am holding back and need to stretch more to reach the floor. At 0.33 although my roll up is nice it could be bigger therefore making my movements more clear. At 0.37 my bum is in the air, again meaning I need more lower body tension. At 0.44 it all gets a bit confusing and I go the wrong way, I'm not going to go mad as this was our first go so by next lesson this shouldn't happen! 0.48 And the legs still need to be closer together! To make it better though I do a lovely slow and clear roll down at 1.04 which leads into the plank at 1.08 which could be lower although my alignment is good.

Strengths: 
  • My roll ups are good however when rolling down I need to touch the floor.
  • Alignment; through is at a good standard minus my weak left hand.
  • Focus; my focus has inproved, even when I went wrong I didn't seem to fluff about as much, I seemed to just carry on.
Weaknesses:
  • My lower body tension; In this exercise it was non exsistant, MUST inprove that!
  • My roll downs need to touch the floor to reach my full strengths.
  •  Planks need to be lower.
Targets:
  • Sort out my feet/legs; Keep them how they are meant to be!
  • Planks; attempt to make them lower to therefore inprove balance and core strength.
  • Roll downs; When rolling down touch the floor.
